The Marmara Region is rich in a number of interesting festivals that not only inspire the locals but also the travelers and the tourists who have come to explore the heritage and beauty of the place. Becoming a part of any of the festivals held in the region is the wish of many people.

Marmara Region and its festivals are loved by the people of Turkey and people belonging to far off places. These festivals surely attract people who have the desire to learn culture and traditions of various places.

Marmara is rich in tourist destinations, it has a number of beautiful mosques, museums, landscapes and much more. Talking about Marmara, how can we miss its festivals?

When it comes to tourism, Turkey is already rich in many places that are worth visiting. Famous tourists from all over the world come here to visit and explore the beauty of the best places here. Marmara has a number of festivals that not only entertain the local people but also the travelers and tourists that have come to explore the region from faraway places.

The very best festival here is the Istanbul International Film Festival. It was the year 1982 since this festival started to be held in Istanbul. The festival features 6 movies and it also features such a Film Week in which dubbed films are played. Ever since the festival begun, it turned into an event whose scope got larger. Now this festival is well recognized by the major film producers of the state. This festival is organized in April each year.

Another festival that is celebrated here is the 1915 Sea Victory Celebration. It is celebrated between 13th and 18th March. It is organized in Canakkale which is located at the Asian region of the Dardanelles strait. This event is celebrated in the recognition of the victory against the allied forces during the World War I. Another festival that is organized in Canakkale is the European Jazz day and it is organized in the month of March.

During the month of April, a festival that is celebrated in Istanbul is the Tulip Festival. Many people have the mistaken belief that Tulips originated from Holland but in reality they originated from Turkey. That is why during the month of April this festival is celebrated. This is the time when many beautiful tulips grow in the country. Many different parks of Istanbul host his festival but the major park where it is mainly held is the Emirgan Park.

Another major festival held in month of December is the Whirling Dervishes Festival. It is celebrated in the Mevlana museum in Konya. Special dance is performed here that is about seven hundred years old. This dance is performed to give honor to the Sufic Saint Mevlana. Many of the Sufis believe that this is the dance that originated when the universe actually began.

Folklore and arts festival celebrated here in the month of June is the Kafkasor Art and Culture Festival. The activities performed at his festival include bull wrestling, combat wrestling and folk dancing. Many of the tourists from all over the world are attracted to this region just to see the beautiful festivals arranged here in Marmara. When it comes to tourism, turkey’s numerous festivals are enough to attract people from across the world to get amazed by the celebrations of the locals.

The ballets and operas are performed in the Aspendos Festival that is held in the Aspendos Antique Theatre. This theatre is almost two thousand years old.

Another very interesting festival held in Istanbul is the Bosphorus held in the month of July where various Asian and European contests are held.
